Cody Escapes into the “Cone Of Shame”
About a half-hour ago I was nearly in tears and panic was setting in. I was fearing the worse. Cody has yet again squirmed his slender Corgi body under the fence into free and treacherous terrain. Gophers are making mounds under our fence lines and we can’t keep up with their mischief. The mounds make it easy for Cody to get under the fence.
There are plenty of coyotes that would love to find an unsuspecting little Corgi dog and there are folks that drive way to fast around here. Also, if it gets dark and he hasn’t returned – well let’s just say that it’s pitch dark in these parts.
I knew that if I just kept calling his name and if he heard me, he’d come. No doubt about it. But what if he was out of earshot range by now? Properties are spread out in our neighborhood and there are challenging hills to be walked to just get down the street. With my trusty hiking shoes, I hiked around hilly terrain and yelled his name. After about a half-hour later my voice is starting to quaver and turn hoarse as emotions started taking over.
I didn’t find Cody.
Cody found me.
I turn around to see Cody several feet behind me. When we got home I outfitted him into the “Cone Of Shame” to temporarily assist in the prevention of another encore disappearing act.
My never a dull moment Corgi in – Cody Escapes into the “Cone Of Shame”.

PHEW!
Corgi come home! What a little bandito.
That is a marvelous picture!
Thank you Laurie. Love your reference as a little bandito…will have to use that cute little name.
What a great use for the collar….I can’t even imagine your terror, lucky for me Winnie hasn’t figured out the ‘digging to Nirvana’ thing. I’m glad your little Houdini found you and I’ll keep that collar thing in mind…Cody is adorable. Thanks for sharing your solution
Hi CrisP: You’re lucky your little Winnie isn’t into the digging exercise.
The collar is a temp prevention method until we can figure out what to do around the fence line (and those pesky gophers).
Thanks for visiting my blog! Your Corgis are beautiful, and so are your photos.
That is a great idea, using the cone for a punishment, might have to try that if we don’t get Ginger to stop biting!
Hi Tracey and thanks for visiting Corgi Tales too! Your little Ginger snap is adorable and she looks so soft in her puppy fur and coloring. Looking fwd to reading more seeing her grow up on your blog!
